We made it! Five elections in 14 months is enough to tire anyone out, but we all made it together.
Thank you to everyone who recommended the GrowSF Voter Guide to their friends, shared us on social media (we noticed!), and reminded their friends and family to vote for competence. Now it’s time to party!
Election night parties!
Rather than host our own party, we’re directing GrowSF-ers (Growers? What are we calling ourselves?) to other parties
Prop D & Matt Dorsey
Join Prop D and Matt Dorsey at Folsom Street Foundry. Don’t forget to RSVP!
WHERE: Folsom Street Foundry - 1425 Folsom St.
WHEN: Tuesday, November 8, 8-11 p.m.
Board of Education
Join the SF Guardians (née Recall the School Board), the Chinese American Democratic Club, and more as they host School Board candidates Ann Hsu, Lainie Motamedi, and Lisa Weissman-Ward
WHERE: Lion’s Den - 57 Wentworth Place
WHEN: Tuesday, November 8, 8-11 p.m.
Joel Engardio
Joel Engardio is also hosting a party, and your friendly newsletter editors will be there until the first results are released at 8:45pm. But Joel wants to keep the party intimate: only for volunteers, donors, and friends & family.
If you volunteered or donated to Joel, check your email because you may have an invite!
Last call to vote!
You have your ballot and your GrowSF voter guide. Now vote like your city depends on it!
Some key stats:
Only about 25% of registered voters have voted so far. We expect over 150,000 people to vote today and tomorrow.
Winning only takes one vote, and the margins are narrow:
Dean Preston won by 185 votes in 2019
Connie Chan won by 125 votes 2020
If you’ve already voted, sharing our Voter Guide with friends and family really matters.
Thanks for voting with GrowSF!
Reminder: Our most important endorsements
District 4 Supervisor (Sunset): Joel Engardio
Joel Engardio knows our West side families need to feel safe and their kids deserve a great education. That’s why Joel was a leader in both the School Board recall and the Chesa Boudin recall. Joel is the only candidate in the race who supported both recalls.
Joel will bring a focus on public safety, education, and fiscal responsibility to City Hall.
District 6 Supervisor (SOMA, Mission Bay): Matt Dorsey
Matt Dorsey is a strong voice for public safety, personal responsibility, and for holding drug dealers accountable. Since taking office earlier this year, Dorsey has put forward sweeping new legislation to clean up the district and to arrest the dealers of deadly fentanyl.
Dorsey is the only candidate who supported both the School Board and Chesa Boudin recalls.
District Attorney: Brooke Jenkins
Brooke Jenkins prioritizes prosecuting anti-Asian hate crimes and charging fentanyl dealers who are killing nearly two people every day via overdose.
School Board: Ann Hsu, Lainie Motamedi, Lisa Weissman-Ward
Ann Hsu, Lainie Motamedi, and Lisa Weissman-Ward are parents, not politicians. After over 70% of San Franciscans recalled the School Board, Mayor London Breed appointed them to fix our school district.
They prioritize academic achievement, support advanced instruction, and will balance the budget.
Defend our recall victory. Vote Ann, Lainie, and Lisa.
And the most important ballot measures:
✅ Yes on Prop 1 - Constitutional right to abortion
❌ No on Prop C - More red tape around homeless services
✅ Yes on Prop D - Make it easier to build homes
Proposition D will make it easier for everyone to build housing that’s affordable to teachers, firefighters, and working families. Prop D is supported by GrowSF, Habitat for Humanity, the NorCal Carpenters Union, and State Senator Scott Wiener.
❌ No on Prop E - Board of Supervisors anti housing measure
Proposition E is an anti-housing measure put on the ballot by the Board of Supervisors. It has a poison-pill provision that will kill Proposition D (Affordable Homes Now), and make it even harder to build the housing we desperately need.
❌ No on Prop I - Close JFK Promenade, spend $80 million to move sand
✅ Yes on Prop J - Keep JFK Promenade open
❌ No on Prop M - New property tax on unoccupied housing
❌ No on Prop O - New parcel tax for City College
Tell your friends to vote with GrowSF tomorrow. Let’s put the city on the right track.
